About the Youth Resource Center

  • The Youth Resource Center (YRS) is a non-profit 502 C 3 organization EIN 92-1799038 and UBI 605-021-482, and is located in Everson, Washington.  The YRC provides at-risk children, ages 5-17 and who reside in Whatcom County.

  • We offer after-school activities such as arts, crafts, and sports, in addition to individual or group counseling.  Further, on certain days, with the help of our Activity Companions, we provide special events aimed at positive, peer building experiences amongst at-risk children.

  • We provide access to immediate basic resources such as food, toiletries, hygiene products, and clothing, as well as laundry and shower amenities.

  • We lead community mobilization for Whatcom County youth by organizing volunteers, charitable donations, and grant acquisitions.

  • We bridge local, state, and federal resources and services to qualified children and their families affected by disadvantaged situations, domestic abuse, mental/emotional distress, homelessness, and or substance dependency.

  • We connect children exhibiting suicidal risks to a short-term, de-escalating, crisis triage facility, specifically for youth.  This facility is called the Youth Crisis Triage Unit and is located in the same building as the the Youth Resource Center in Everson, Washington.  It is a safe, comfortable, professionally monitored setting for children in crisis to spend the day receiving mental health treatment.  Based on assessment at the Triage Unit, if the child is in need of immediate hospitalization or a longer term, inpatient, crisis stabilization program, this care will be coordinated.
